Our Story

Nearly a decade ago, we were on the verge of becoming empty nesters. We were preparing to see the last of our four children begin the final steps towards graduating high school. We had bought a motorcycle, planned “couples” vacations and began discussing downsizing our over-sized home into something a bit more “our” size.

We then got a call. One of our parents was diagnosed with cancer. Without hesitation we jumped into action. Within a month we relocated both parents into a cozy in-law apartment attached to our home. Supervising a senior’s medical care became a new task to us. That same year we were blessed with twin boys. Empty nesters soon became sandwich generation.

Once we began this journey, we found our life to be quite different. What we thought we knew and could manage become something very challenging. After lots of reading, researching and experiences, we want to share some of our insights with the hope of helping anyone else going through a similar transition. Just remember, this is OUR experience you may have one completely different and unique, but life is something that can also be shared.
